Upgrading of the school website
Since the beginning of this term in January, the school website has been upgraded to the latest version. Before Christmas, the website was subject to a malicious attack which caused lots of problems. All websites are affected by such attacks but in upgrading to this new version, it has much greater security features. The old website, although still accessible to parents, has had no new content added this term. Consequently, there are a number of articles which have been waiting to be added. This will be done very shortly....then we will be back to the normal - often daily - updates.
Although much of the website may look familiar, there are a number of new features which you will notice bit-by-bit. Most of the changes have taken place "behind the scenes".

Ambassadors combating bullying in schools
The Anti-Bullying Team and School Council were invited to Hetton Secondary school in early March 2014, to train as Ambassadors combating bullying in schools. Four children attended and were awarded certificates and badges. The day was fantastic! We worked alongside 20 other schools across the region and pupils took part in drama, outdoor activities and challenges.
We will be sharing our knowledge with the whole school in an assembly.

Year 6 make pancakes
To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, Year 6 made delicious pancakes.
As part of their numeracy lessons, they have been learning how to measure using millilitres, litres, grams and kilograms. Within guided reading they re-wrote a simple recipe using imperative verbs. So, as a reward, all children participated in this fun and practical lesson.
